Our Net Zero Mission

Our promise to a greener future

What is Net Zero?

The commitment to achieving net zero means aiming to balance the amount of greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere with an equivalent amount removed or offset. The UK government has set a legally binding target to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. This involves reducing emissions from various sectors such as energy, transportation, industry, and agriculture, and utilising methods like carbon capture or investing in natural solutions like afforestation (planting trees) to offset any remaining emissions. The goal is to effectively neutralise the impact of human-generated greenhouse gases on the environment to combat climate change.

Our Mission

Our mission within The A1 Group of companies, is to reach our Net Zero goal before 2050.

We are implementing measures to minimise the carbon footprint of operations. We are set to conduct a comprehensive Net Zero Gap Analysis to pinpoint critical enhancements and opportunities, delineating A1 Group's emissions boundaries and data inventory. This analysis will serve as the foundation for collaboratively crafting the Net Zero Roadmap and strategy. Additionally, we will be defining a Science Based Trajectory (SBT), which will play a pivotal role in guiding the development of our Net Zero Roadmap.

The A1 Group have taken several steps already to contribute to achieving new zero emissions. Each step we take, contributes to our companies’ efforts in working towards our net zero target and supports the broader global initiatives to combat climate change.

What we have achieved so far...

Engie Certificate for Net Zero Picture

Reducing Emissions

Within the A1 Group, each of our divisions is currently acknowledged by ENGIE as being supplied with renewable energy, showcasing our steadfast dedication to minimising our environmental footprint. By opting for renewable energy sources, we not only prioritize environmental responsibility but also contribute to the global efforts in combating climate change. This alignment with ENGIE's renewable energy supply further solidifies our position as a conscientious corporate entity striving for a greener, more sustainable future.

We plan to shift towards renewable energy sources like solar, wind, or hydroelectric power for operations. We aim to install solar panels in all our depots by 2026.

Transparent Reporting

We prioritise clear and transparent reporting on carbon emissions through the utilisation of cutting-edge technology. By leveraging advanced tools, we can meticulously monitor the carbon footprint of our vehicles in real-time, enabling us to optimise delivery routes and minimise fuel consumption and emissions effectively. Our approach is facilitated through an online paperless system known as Big Change. This software serves as a comprehensive job management platform, seamlessly integrating various functionalities including CRM, job scheduling, live tracking, resource management, and business intelligence into one user-friendly interface.

Collaborating with Suppliers

A1 Wokingham Car Spares have been working alongside Green Car Depollution since 2011 to improve their operations. By 2023 and after many other innovative purchases, we purchased a state-of-the-art award winning ‘All In One™’ depollution system! With so many systems in place, A1 have maximised their depollution capacity and can safely dispose of huge amounts of waste liquids and can re-use the fuel taken from ELV’s as it’s further filtered and cleaned.

As well as an extensive range of depollution equipment, A1 Wokingham Car Spares have also invested in Vehicle Preparation Side Tips and Stands, which further enables the operators to remove as many re-usable / recyclable parts from the ELV’s as possible, minimising the environmental impact of the vehicle.
