Kelly's Sponsored Fundraising
Throughout April, the team at A1 Wokingham Car Spares came together to support Autism Awareness Month, raising awareness and funds for a fantastic charity, Challengers.
The fundraising effort was led by Kelly, who wanted to do something meaningful to highlight autism and encourage conversations around understanding and inclusion. Over the course of the month, staff organised bake sales, raffles, and collection buckets, with many customers generously donating.
One of the most memorable parts of the month was a challenge Kelly set herself to help people think about some of the communication barriers autistic people can face. For one whole working day, she remained completely silent, spending the day sitting at a small desk in the office, which is very difficult for someone like Kelly as she has never stayed silent for more than 2 seconds!
The team's chosen charity was Challengers, an organisation that gives disabled children and young people the opportunity to play, make friends, build confidence, and express themselves in a safe and supportive environment. The work they do provides families with invaluable support while helping children enjoy experiences that every child deserves.
The response from customers throughout the month was incredible. Whether it was buying a cake, entering a raffle, or simply dropping some spare change into the fundraising bucket, the local community got behind the cause and helped make a real difference. We were able to raise an amazing amount of £5691.05, which will help Challengers in many ways.
The month was not only about raising money, but also about encouraging people to learn more about autism and the importance of creating a more understanding and inclusive community.
Everyone at A1 Wokingham Car Spares would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who contributed during April. The support received showed just how generous the local community can be, and together they helped raise awareness for autism while supporting the amazing work carried out by Challengers.
